ABOUT THE ALBUM

An avid lover of southern gospel music, Elvis not only collected the albums of his favorite singers and groups; The Stamps, The Blackwood Brothers and The Statesman just to name a few, but truly aspired to become a gospel singer. Those who weren’t aware of his church roots and recordings, can miss out on where his true soul lies musically. “How Great Thou Art” is the twenty-eighth studio album by Elvis Presley, released in February 1967. Recording sessions took place at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee in May 1966. It peaked at No. 18 on the Top Pop Albums chart and certified as 3x Platinum in 2010. The title song won Elvis his first Grammy Award in 1967 for Best Sacred Performance. Interestingly, his only other Grammy win also came from a gospel category. In 1972, he took home Best Inspirational Performance for “He Touched Me”. Both are on display at Graceland in Memphis. This performance is an homage to Elvis and Trae sings the entire album from start to finish with the RCA Studio B Band and The glorious Gospel Gurls.

ABOUT TRAE GURLEY

For the past 25 years, Trae has been performing the songs that speak to him. Born a decade too late, Trae's voice embodies the heart and soul of jazz greats and he’s known around Savannah for his Sinatra-like sound. Trae‘s journey through music started in church and he has fond memories of sitting next to his grandmother in church, singing alongside others to raise their voices to the higher power. In 2016, Trae visited Graceland to pay homage to Elvis and was moved by Elvis’ endless passion for gospel, specifically the “How Great Thou Art” album. Upon returning home, he serendipitously found the record at a garage sale for $4 and the journey to create this special night began with the help of Jared Hall.
